Martijn Peeters
This week’s journal, Martijn Peeters – Treasurer
Every week a board member or consultant will talk you through a small biography, and more importantly, a little insight into their life, what parts of their agenda are devoted to TIME, and what parts aren’t.
For this week’s edition, I’ll take over the blog and give some insight into my life and activities as a student and treasurer. Let’s first introduce myself and a bit of my history. My name is Martijn Peeters, for the biggest part of my life I have called Brabant my home. Specifically Baarle-Nassau, which, when looking at the map it might look like a weird spot just south of Tilburg. The reason for this is that it has parts of Belgium lying within the Netherlands. For me, making it an interesting and lively village. After living in Tilburg and Oslo during my Bachelor IBA, I went back to my hometown to work fulltime before travelling to South America. The time spent over there can be described as some of the best I’ve had so far. I could write essays about most days but I’ll keep it to some highlights instead. Wildlife watching while cruising over the Amazon, snorkeling with hammerhead sharks in the Galapagos, learning Spanish in Medellin and hiking over mountains and through valleys in the Andes are all up there.
Upon return in the Netherlands, it was time to study again. Did this mean my adventures ended? Not in the slightest. The first semester of the Master Marketing Management and the introduction week prior have introduced me to many new connections and opportunities. Some of them just wouldn’t quit talking about TIME and that is why I ended up interested in the project and even applied. So far, I can only say that it has been a great time already. I’ve started the board year in January and in my opinion, together with the girls, we’ve accomplished a lot already.
We’re currently in the acquisition phase of the project and together with all the consultants that have joined us so far, we have made an effort to get in contact with companies interested in the destinations we will travel to, to conduct their research. Besides these activities I keep the cost and revenue estimates up to date, order necessities for the team and handle most logistics. What I’m most proud of so far is the new website we have launched!
TIME is taking over quite a bit of my time but I would lie if I’d say it’s all I do. In my free time I like to work out, plus twice a week I train and coach children in athletics at Gloria Atletiek. Occasionally you can find me at a festival, which is one the reasons I’m longing for summer. Another reason summer cannot come fast enough relates to travel. So far I only have plans for a week in the Dolomites but I notice I’m on Google Flights more often. But who am I to complain: a month in Tokyo, Osaka and Shanghai will for sure still my lust for travel and adventure later this year.
Want to know more about TIME or our current project? I’m always up for a nice conversation accompanied with a good cup of coffee. Additionally, add me on LinkedIn or send me a message and I’m happy to tell you all about it.
Until next TIME!
