Merel Damen – Operations Officer

Every week a board member or consultant will talk you through a small biography, and more importantly, a little insight into their life, what parts of their agenda are devoted to time, and what parts aren’t.

This week it’s my turn, and I’ll give you some insights into my life and my role as the Operations Officer of TIME. But first, let me quickly introduce myself!

My name is Merel Damen, 21 years old and I live in Son & Breugel, a town near Eindhoven. At this moment I am following the master Marketing Management, after I finished my bachelor in Business Economics. During my bachelor I followed the minors in Marketing Management and Marketing Analytics, which made me want to explore the marketing direction further. Besides studying, I work at the Sales Support department of The Rent Company, a company that rents and sells laptops to students. In my spare time I play sports often. I play hockey, tennis and like to go to the gym. Also spending time with my friends and visiting festivals is something I love to do!

TIME is a beautiful addition to these activities. For me, it’s an opportunity to gather more knowledge and experience in the field of market research and business life. Besides that its an amazing project to get to know new people and make a beautiful trip together (which is up to me to organize)! I already visited beautiful places around the world, such as Thailand, Morocco and South Africa and I am planning to add many more in the future. Because travelling and exploring new places is something that I love to do, I am looking forward to experience this amazing TIME abroad together!

In my function as the Operations Officer I am responsible for the operations of our organisation. Tasks that belong to the operations are for example maintaining our website, arranging the merchandise and planning and organising the trip to Spain and Portugal in November.
